As part of the international research project CIRC-BOOST, a demonstration of the disassembly and reassembly of a decoupled masonry infill constructed from reused solid clay bricks was successfully carried out at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade.
The masonry infill forms part of an innovative prefabricated structural system developed within the “3R Pilot House” (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).
The connection between the masonry infill and the surrounding frame incorporates the INODIS system, which enables the decoupling of the seismic response of the infill and the frame while preserving the possibility of assembling and disassembling the components.
The demonstration showcased the feasibility of disassembling and reassembling the masonry infill as a single element, thereby confirming an important aspect of the concept of reusing building components and implementing circular economy principles in construction.
